Putting the World on the Borders Map

The Rolling Hills of the Borders – so near Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Carlisle, yet within
A short distance, country roads lead to a diversity of open grass covered hill, cultivated rural landscapes punctuated by wandering rivers with tree clad banks and nestling towns and villages.

The Borderland is steeped in history which has literally shaped its boundaries, appearance and the nature of its inhabitants. There is unlikely to be a population of a similar size in Britain ( just over 100,000) which is more unique in manner, dialect and attitude than the Borderers.

The Borderer is comfortable in the Borders environment, in the way houses old and new are married together in farm, village and town, the nearness to the country, carefully crafted by Borderers over the centuries, albeit mostly within an unspoken rationale, with the local community
and being aware that outwardly least, friendship and informality are hard to ignore in such a lifestyle.

Over 730 sports clubs and associations flourish in such an environment where local rivalry, historically manifesting itself in bloody feud, is now drawn to competition in the halls, fields, tracks, rivers, lochs and courses that abound in an almost invisible seam through the fabric of the Borders’ heritage and culture.

Nowhere else in the British Isles or indeed Europe, would 109,000 people occupying an identified region have - 27 rugby clubs, 25 rugby sevens tournaments, 37 soccer clubs, 9 athletics clubs, 12 tennis clubs, 20 bowling clubs, 21 golf courses and 12 Common Riding Festivals.  Add to this alchemy of activity, walking, hiking, climbing, biking, horse riding, music, literature, theatre and poetry welling up in a Phenomenon that is the Borders Way of Life.

Borders Experience, working alongside quality providers, can selectively and personally provide contacts within a tailor made package to satisfy personal and group aspirations to experience the Borders.

Refreshed, satiated, informed and at ease with a fulfilled Borders Experience, links are in place with
the wider Scottish Experience to stimulate what is of value to the discerning participant(s) elsewhere in the beautiful, diverse, culturally and historically endowed Proud Country that is Scotland.
