Putting the World on the Borders Map

An ever changing economic climate has led a small group of Borders Machinery Ring (BMR) members to look more closely at potential tourism projects.  The group wishes to make use of the collective resources of both BMR's own members along while developing new business links. A new company called Borders Experience Ltd has been registered, which will now develop towards acting as a tourism and leisure facilitator.

A key feature of Borders Experience will be the customers' ability to communicate directly with Borders Experience staff to arrange packages and supply local information as part of a quality based local interest and information service.

Mission Statement

  • To share information on Borders tourism.
  • To create a mutually held database.
  • To conduct a marketing study as to demand for what is on offer.
  • To put in place a booking and payment system based on the most advanced information technology systems available.
  • To bring like minded people in the UK and across the world together by co-operation and education.
  • To create mutually beneficial leisure and business opportunities.

Borders Experience will derive its main sources of income from creating new events in the Borders.  To provide these services, Borders Experience work on a contractual basis with existing tourist service providers, of which there are over 1000 in the Borders.

Borders Experience feel there is a need for the creation of a Borders Tourist Association run by its members for the benefit of its members. Their experiences within BMR since its inception in 1987 has convinced some BMR members that there are benefits of such a Body beyond the imposition of wholly state run tourism related organisations affecting the Borders Tourism and Leisure industry.
